How it works

- Compare: words like vs, versus, best, top, review, alternative, compare, or
- Learn: words like how, what, why, guide, tutorial, tips, ideas, examples, beginner, checklist
- Not sure: no signal word found. Look these up and decide yourself.
If a phrase has words from more than one group, the strongest buying signal wins, so "best cheap hosting" goes to buy. A good site usually needs all three: learn posts bring new visitors, compare posts help them choose and buy pages close the loop.
Three things this tool can't see
- Search volume. It does not know how many people search each phrase. Use a keyword tool for that.
- What Google shows. Search the phrase and look at the top results. That is the real test of intent.
- Brand names. A bare brand name like "semrush" could be any intent, so it lands in not sure.
